An exhibition tent is in the form of a cylinder surmounted
by a cone. The height of the tent above the ground is 85 m and
height of the cylindrical part is 50m. If the diameter of the
base is 168 m, find the quantity of canvas required to make the
tent.

area used= curved surface area of cylinder + curved surface area of

=2πrh+πrl

r =84m, h= 50, l=√h^2+r^2 =91m

=πr(2h + l)

=22/7(2* 50 + 91)

=22/7(100 + 91)

=22/7* 191

=600.2 m

therefore cloth used is 600.2 m
