1) Why pumice stones are added to water in the beaker?

Answer => As the water boils, it starts bumping and the liquid tends to come our of the beaker.So, to avoid the bumping of the liquid, pumice stones are added, so that the liquid doesn't come out.

2) Why a glass stirrer is used?

Answer => Stirring is required for proper distribution of heat to increase temperature uniformly. And a glass stirrer is used so that the stirrer doesn't yet heated much.
