An express train runs at an average speed of 100 kmph, stopping for 3 minutes after 75 km. A local train runs at a speed of 50 kmph, stopping for 1 minute after every 25 km. If the trains began running at the same time, how many kilometers did the local train run in the time it took the express train to run 600 km?

Answer:

Explanation:

See 300km is covered in 6min 12sec

But the second train has to cover the distance in the same time the first train covered 600km  in 6hrs21 min

Now 12 min done 9 minutes left

So,9*50/60

=7.5km

So total distance covered  by second train will

Be distance covered in 6hrs 12 min + distance covered in 9min

=300+7.5

=307.5km

Trains

Distance

A.                     B

600km.           307.5km

Time by both 6 hrs 21 min

Hope you got this solution now☺
