sum of exterior angle is equal to the sum of opposite interior angles

so,

exterior angle = sum of opposite interior angle

100° = 30°+x

100°-30° = x

70° = x

now by angle sum property of triangle which states that sum of all the angles of triangle is 180°

so,

30°+x+y = 180°

30°+70°+y = 180°

100°+y = 180°

y = 180°-100°

y = 80°

OR

a exterior angle forms a linear pair with angle next to it

so,

100°+y = 180°

y = 180°-100°

y = 80°
