An Ice-cream cafe has 200 customers every day. 60% of them like vanilla flavor and 80% of them like mango flavor. What is the probability, if one of the customers selected randomly and asked which flavor does he/she likes and they don’t like either of them.

Probability that a customer selected randomly likes a flavor = 12 / 25

Probability that a customer doesn't like either of the flavors = 13 / 25

• Given,

Number of customers in an ice- cream cafe im a day = 200

Percentage of customers that likes vanilla flavor = 60 %

Percentage of customers that likes mango flavor = 80 %

• Number of customers liking vanilla flavor = 60 % of 200

= (60 / 100) × 200

= 120

• Number of customers liking mango flavor = 80 % of 200

= (80 / 100) × 200

= 160

• Probability that a customer likes vanilla flavor (P1) = Number of customers liking vanilla / Total number of customers coming to the cafe

=> P1 =  120 / 200

=> P1 = 3 / 5

Probability that a customer likes mango flavor (P2) = Number of customers liking mango / Total number of customers coming to the cafe

=> P2 = 160 / 200

=> P2 = 4 / 5

• Probability that a customer likes either of the flavors (P) = P1 × P2

=> P = (3 / 5) × (4 / 5)

=> P = 12 / 25

• Probability that a customer likes neither of the flavors (P') = 1 - Probability that a customer likes either of the two flavors

=> P' = 1 - (12 / 25)

=> P' = (25 - 12) / 25

=> P' = 13 / 25

Answer:

The probability that the customer chosen at random doesn't like either of the flavors is 13/25

Step-by-step explanation:

The number of customers who prefer Vanilla flavor = 60/100 × 200 = 120

The number of customers who prefer mango flavor = 80/100 × 200 = 160 customers.

The probability that a customer asks for vanilla ice cream = 120/200 = 3/5

The probability that a customer likes mango flavor = 160/200 = 4/5

The probability that a customer likes both mango and vanilla is given by:

P(Mango and Vanilla) = P(Mango) × P(Vanilla)

= 3/5 × 4/5 = 12/25

The probability that a customer likes neither of the flavors = 1 - P(Likes mango and flavor)

Writing this we have:

= 1 - 12/25

= 25/25 - 12/25 = 13/25
