An ice cream cone is 12 cm deep and 6 cm in diameter. A single scoop of vanilla ice cream 6 cm in diameter is placed on top. If the ice cream melts into the cone, will it overflow? Why? Note: 1 scoop = half of a sphere

a. Yes the ice Cream can melt and it melts because it absorbs the energy around it in the form of heat. This extra energy causes the atoms to vibrate, turning the solid into a liquid—and eventually into a gas (which is not actually possible on earth outside of lab conditions).
