Given :

• An ice slab of dimensions 75 x 60 x 30 cm.

• The density of ice is 901 kg/m³

To Find :

• The mass of the ice slab.

Solution :

First, we need to find the volume of the ice slab.

  • Length of the ice slab = 75 cm
  • Breadth of the ice slab = 60 cm
  • Height of the slab = 30 cm

→ Volume of the ice slab = l × b × h

where,

• l denotes the length

• b denotes the breadth

• h denotes the height

Substituting the given values :-

→ Volume of the ice slab = 75 x 60 x 30

→ Volume of the ice slab = 135000

Therefore, the volume of ice slab = 135000 cm³

Now, we shall convert the volume of ice slab from cm³ into m³ :-

As we know,

• 1 m³ = 100³ cm³

So, in order to convert the value from cm³ into m³ divide it by (100)³

→ Volume = 135000 ÷ 1000000

→ Volume = 135 ÷ 1000

→ Volume = 0.135

Therefore, the volume of ice slab = 0.135 m³

Formula to calculate mass, when density and volume is given :-

→ Mass = Density × Volume

→ Substituting the given values :-

→ Mass of ice slab = 901 × 0.135

→ Mass of ice slab = 121.635

Therefore, the mass of the ice slab = 121.635 kg
