Given :- An icicle is in the shape of an inverted cone with a diameter of 12 millimeters and a height of 100 millimeters. How much frozen water is in the icicle? Round to the nearest hundredth. Cone V = one-third B h

A. 638.32 mm

B. 3 1,256.64 mm³

C. 3,769.91 mm³

D. 15,079.64 mm³

Solution :-

we know that,

  • Volume of cone = (1/3) * π * radius² * height .
  • Radius = Diameter/2

given that,

→ Diameter of ice cone = 12 mm

so,

→ Radius = 12/2 = 6mm

and,

→ Height = 100 mm

then,

→ Volume of cone = (1/3) * π * r² * h = (1/3) * (22/7) * (6)² * 100 = (22/7) * 12 * 100 = 3771.428 mm³

now,

→ 3771.428 round to the nearest hundredth = Thousandths digit is 8 which is greater than 5 = 3771.43 mm³ (Ans.)

therefore, volume of frozen water is in the icicle is 3771.43 mm³ .
