For an ideal gas,

PV = nRT

Initially, i.e at condition (2P,V)

2P.V = nRTi ...(1)

Finally, i.e at (P,2V)

P.2V = nRTf ...(2)

Dividing (1) by (2)

Ti = Tf

Hence, No change in temperature. It is isothermal process.

As internal energy is directly proportional to temperature, it is zero for an isothermal process

ΔU = 0

Now, first law of thermodynamics,

ΔU = Q - W

0 = Q-W

Q = W
