An image 2/3 of the size of an object is formed by aconvex lens at a distance of 12cm from it. Find the focal length of the lens

1/f(focal length)=1/v-1/u  

by putting the value,  

1/f=1/12-(-1/8)

=1/12+1/8

=2+3/24

=5/24

therefore,  

f=24/5

f=4.8cm
