An incompressible liquid of density rho is enclosed with two frictionless pistons one of cross sectional area A and the other of 4A. When the narrow piston moves in by a distance h, the wider piston moves out by a distance.

Explanation:

Since the liquid is in-compressible , and it is a single system, therefore  the volume will be conserved .  

That is the reduction in the volume of liquid in the 4A section will be = Area x distance moved by the liquid ( lets suppose"y" )

= 4A x y  

will be equal to the increase in the volume of liquid in area A  

= A h  

4A y = A h  

h/4 = y = so it will move a distance of h/4
