An increase in the temperature of water bodies due to release of hot water used in industries is known as thermal pollution. A sudden variation of temperature kills many aquatic organisms. This is known as thermal shock. Why do you think this happens ?

Aquatic organisms are not habitual of sudden change in temperature changes of water and therefore their body is not designed to resist sudden temperature change. Hence they die due to sudden change in the temperature of water.
