Given : An indicator light on a control panel operates continuously, drawing 20 mA from a 120-V supply. At $0.09 per kilowatt-hour,

To Find : how much does it cost per year to operate the light

Solution:

1 year = 365 * 24 hrs

P = VI

120 V *20 mA

= 120 * 20 /1000

= 2400/1000

= 2.4 W

365 * 24 * 2.4  Whr

= 21,024  W hr

= 21.024 KWhr

$0.09 per kilowatt-hour

= 0.09 * 21.024

= 1.89216  $

it cost  1.89216  $ per year to operate the light
