Explanation:

The industrial method of methanol preparation is obtained by mixing carbon monoxide and hydrogen. The mixture which is gaseous in nature is subjected to the atmosphere around 200 and later passed over a heated catalyst combination of ZnO and Cr2O3 at the temperature of 400 degrees C to 450 degrees C.  

Methanol is used to manufacture dyes, ink, adhesive and resins. Also an important pharmaceutical product for the manufacture of vitamins, hormones, streptomycin etc.
