Answer:

c) 2r

Explanation:

We know that, displacement is the shortest distance possible to the destination.

Here, we can see, that the insect moves around the circle of radius 'r'.

NOTE : THE CLEAR EXPLANATION WITH FIGURE IS GIVEN IN THE ATTACHMENT BELOW. KINDLY REFER TO IT.

Let A be the point from where the insect starts moving. Then after completing one round, the insect will reach back again at A.

Thus the displacement will be 0.

Then, after completing the second round, similarly the displacement will be 0 again.

Similarly after completing the third round, the displacement will be again zero.

Now, since it is 0.5 rounds more that is 1/2 of the perimeter.

Thus, it will be r + r = 2r

Hence, the required answer = 2r.

Explanation:

Displacement means the shortest path

If you go and return to the same point then your net displacement is 0.

Given in the question its displacement after 3.5 rounds

After 3 rounds it is in it's starting point

So net displacement is 0.

But by covering .5 rounds more it covers half a circle

I.e its semicircle

Displacement in semicircle is by covering midway through the diameter

Because it is the shortest path rather than going through the curved way ...

So displacement = Diameter = 2×radius = 2r

Hope this helps you..
