Given:

Mass of cannon = m1 = 500 kg

Mass of iron ball = m2 = 10 kg

Velocity of cannon = 5m/s

To Find:

Velocity of iron ball = v2

Solution:

 Using the law of conservation of linear momentum for firing of iron ball.

According to law of conservation of linear momentum, the formula is -

m1v1 = m2v2

Substituting the values -

500 x 5 = 10 x v2

2500 = 10 x v2

v2 = 2500/10

v2 = 250

Answer: The velocity of iron ball is 250 m/s.
