let force applied by cube on sand be w
pressure = thrust/area

Case1: pressure = w/10 Pa
Case2:pressure  = w/40 Pa
Case 3:pressure = w/100 Pa

Greatest pressure applied : w/10 Pa
2cmx5cm side would give greatest depression on the sand, as pressure would be greater due to small surface area.
