The solution becomes green color due to the displacement of copper from copper sulphate.

CuSO4 + Fe gives FeSO4 + Cu

Reddish brown deposit of Cu is seen on iron nail

When an iron nail is suspended in a copper sulphate solution...

The more reactive iron reacts with less reactive copper and copper is displaced by iron from the copper sulphate solution.

Thus after 2 hours u will find that copper sulphate solution turns green in colour and reddish brown copper is deposited on the iron nail.

Hope this may help..
