an iron spherical ball has been melted and recast into smaller balls of equal size. if radius of each of the smaller balls 1 by 4 of the radius of the original ball, how many such balls are made? Compare the surface area, of all the smaller balls combined together with that of the original ball .

Answer:

64 balls

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the radius of bigger ball =R

Let the radius of smaller ball =r

Let the number of balls recasted=x

Then: R×¼ = r (According to the question)

Volume of sphere=4/3×π×(radius)³

Therefore.

Volume od bigger ball= x(Volume of small ball)

i.e

4/3×π×R³=x(4/3×π×r³)

substitute R=4r, we get,

(4r)³=x(r³)

Hence,

x=64.
