Answer:
Step-by-step explanation:
base=48cm
area=240cm²
By heron's formula we know that ,
area=√s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)
here s=half of perimeter
a,b and c are the sides where a and b are the equal sides
let a and b =x
s=a+b+c/2
=x+x+48/2
= 2x+48/2
=2(x+24)/2
=x+24
area=√s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)
240=√(x+24)((x+24)-x)((x+24)-x)((x-24)-48)
240=√(x+24)(x+24-x)(x+24-x)(x+24-48)
240=√(x+24)*24*24*(x-24)
240=24√(x+24)(x-24)
240/24=√(x)²-(24)²
10=√(x)²-(24)²
(10)²=x²-576
100=x²-576
x²=100+576
x²=676
x=26
so the other sides are 26cm
