An isosceles triangle has an area of 8cm.Fimd the length of its hypotenuse

The formula for area of isosceles Triangle =1/2×b×h

as in figure we consider equal sides as x

area =1/2×x×x

8=1/2×2x

8=x

so x=8

Now ,

by Pythagoras theorem

hyp² = side1²+side2²

= 8²+8²

64+64

hyp²=128

taking square root

step by step

hypotenuse= √128

= √4×32 (simplifying)

=√4×4×8

=√4×4×4×2

=√4×4×2×2×2

taking out of √

= 4×2√2

= 8√2
