given : An isotonic solution of protein A and protein B 0.73 gram of protein A is dissolved in 250 ml of solution while 1.65 gram of protein B is dissolved in 1 litre solution.

To find : the ratio of molecular mass of protein A and protein B.

solution : isotonic solution means, total molecular concentration is same in both of them.

i.e., i₁C₁ = i₂C₂

for protein , i = 1

⇒C₁ = C₂

⇒no of moles of A/volume of A = no of moles of B/volume of B

⇒(0.73/M₁)/(250ml) = (1.65/M₂)/(1000 m)

⇒0.73 ×4/1.65 = M₁/M₂

⇒M₁/M₂ = 1.77

Therefore the ratio of molecular mass of protein A and protein B is 1.77
