Question:

An item marked at ₹840 is sold for ₹714. what is the discount and discount % ?

Given:

  • Marked price ➞ 840

  • Sale price ➞ 714

To Find Discount:-

We know that,

Discount ➙ Marked price - Sale price

➠ Discount ➙ ₹ 840 - ₹ 714

➠ Discount ➙ 126

Hence, the Discount allowed on the item is 126

To Find Discount % :-

We know that,

Discount % ➙ Discount / Marked price × 100%

➠ Discount % ➙ 126/840 × 100 %

➠ Discount % ➙ 126/84 × 10 %

➠ Discount % ➙ 15 %

Hence, the percentage (%) of discount given on the item is 15 %
