An IUCD is inserted in the uterus. Its insertion causes irritation in the uterine lining. As a result, there is a lot of mucus secretion which prevents implantation of the embryo.

I want to ask what the term "mucus" refers to? What is it made of ? What is the function of mucus in uterus ?

Mucus is fluid substance that is produced by the linings of tissues.

It is made many dust particles because as it is visky in nature it traps all the dust particles.

Mucus provides healthy reservoir for sperm.
