Solution :

The given distribution ratio is ½ : ⅓ : ¼ .

Multiplying all the terms with a constant , say the LCM of 2,3 and 4 that is 12 ;

=> 6 : 4 : 3

Hence , the balls are distributed among 3 children in the ratio 6 : 4 : 3 .

Let them recieve 6x, 4x and 3x balls respectively .

Total number of balls :

=> 6x + 4x + 3x

=> 13x

But this is 286

Therefore 13x = 286

=> x = 22

Child 1 - 6 × 22 = 132 balls

Child 2 - 22 × 4 = 88 balls

Child 3 : 66 balls

This is the required answer .
