GiveN :

  • Object Height (Ho) = 1 cm
  • Object Position (u) = - 15 cm
  • Focal length (f) = - 10 cm
  • Concave Mirror

To FinD :

  • Position, size, nature of the image

SolutioN :

Use mirror formula :

⇒ 1/f = 1/v + 1/u

⇒ 1/v = 1/f - 1/u

⇒1/v = 1/-10 - (1/-15)

⇒ 1/v = -1/10 + 1/15

⇒ 1/v = (-3 + 2)/30

⇒ 1/v = -1/30

⇒v = - 30 cm

\therefore Image is placed at distance of -30 cm from mirror.

Now, use formula for magnification :

➠ m = -v/u = H'/Ho

⇒-(-30)/-15 = H'/1

⇒30/-15 = H'

⇒H' = -2 cm

\therefore Image height is - 2cm

  • Nature of Image is Real and Inverted.
  • Size of image is Enlarged.
