An object 1 cm high produces a real image 1.5 cm high, when placed at a distance of 15 cm from a concave mirror. Calculate : (i) the position of the image, (ii) focal length of the concave mirror.

it is given that height of the object (h)=1 cm
height of the image (h')=1.5 cm
object distance (u)=-15
therefore h'/h= - v/u
therefore v= 22.5
by the formula 1/F=1/u+1/v
we get F(focal length) =-45 cm
the position of the image will be behind the mirror I.e. image formed will be virtual
