an object 3 cm high is placed at a distance of 10 cm in front of converging mirror of focal length 20cm. find the position, nature and size of the image formed.

here is yours answer

Height of object, h=3 cm
Object distance, u=-9 cm
Focal length, f=-18 cm
Using the mirror formula,
1/f=1/v +1/u
1/18=1/v +1/(-9)
v= 6 cm
Thus the position of image is 6 cm to the right side of mirror and so its nature will be virtual and erect.
Now, using magnification formula,
m=-v/u=h'/h
=-6/-9=h'/3
or height of image, h
=2 cm
