An object 4.0cm in size is placed at 25cm in front of a concave mirror of focal length of 15zm. at what distance from the mirror should a screen be placed in order to obtain a sharp image? Find nature and size of image.

Answer:

ho = 4cm

u= -25cm

f= ‐15cm

by using mirror formula

1/v+1/u=1/f

1/v=1/f-1/u

1/v = 1/-15-1/-25

1/v=-5/75+3/75

1/v=-2/75

v=75/-2=-37.5cm

m=hì/hò= -v/u= hì/4= -(-37.5)/-25= -6

since the image is 37.5 in front of mirror and

- sign indicates that the image is real and inverted
