given

h = 4 cm

u = -5 cm

h' = 48 cm

we know that h'\h = -v\u

48\4 = -v\5

therefore v = -60 cm

according to light formula,

1\v + 1\u = 1\f

1\-60 + 1\5 = 1\f

therefore f = 5.45 cm

The object is placed between the pole of the mirror and its focal length.
