Answer :

Height of object = 5cm

Distance of object = 25cm

Focal length = 10cm

Type of lens : converging (convex)

We have to find

  • Position of image
  • Size of image
  • Nature of image

★ Focal length of convex lens is taken positive and that of concave lens is taken negative.

Distance of image :,

Distance of image can be calculated by using lens formula which is given by

  • 1/v - 1/u = 1/f

v denotes distance of image

u denotes distance of object

f denotes focal length

By substituting the given values, we get

➠ 1/v + 1/u = 1/f

➠ 1/v + 1/(-25) = 1/10

➠ 1/v = 1/10 + 1/25

➠ 1/v = 7/50

v = 7.14 cm

★ Size of image :

➠ m = v/u = h'/h

  • h' denotes height of image
  • h denotes height of object

➠ 7.14/(-25) = h'/5

➠ h' = -7.14/5

h' = 1.428 cm

Negative sign shows that image is inverted.

Nature of image :

  • Real
  • Inverted
  • Short
