Given :

  • It is a convex mirror .
  • Height of the object, h=5cm.
  • Distance of the object, u= -10cm.
  • Radius of curvature, R=30cm.
  • Position of the object = ?
  • Nature = ?
  • Image size = ?

Formula to be used :

  • 1/f = 1/u +1/v
  • f = R/2
  • m = -v/u = h'/h

Calculation :

f = R/2

= 30/2

f = +15

1/v = 1/f - 1/u

= 1/(+15) + 1/(-20)

= 1/15 + 1/20

= 4+3/60

= 7/60

v = 60/7

v = +8.6cm

m = -v/u

= 8.6/20

h'/h = -v/u

h'= -v/u x h

= 8.6/20 x5

h'= +2.15cm

Result:

The image formed on the mirror at distance of 8.6cm, Image formed on the same side of the mirror. the nature of the image is virtual and erect. the size of the image is +2.15cm.
