An object 5cm in length is held 25cm away from a converging lens of focal length 10cm. Draw the ray diagram and find the position, size and nature of the image formed​

Converging lens has focal length of 10 cm.

To Find :

Position, Size, Nature of the Image Formed .

Solution :

h1 = 5 cm

u =-25 cm

f = 10 cm

  • Lens formula : 1/v – 1/u = 1/f

1/v – 1/-25 = 1/10

1/v = 1/10 – 1/25 = (5 – 2)/50 = 3/50

V = 16.6

  • Image is 16.6 cm behind the convex lens.

m = v/u

(50/3)/-25

- (2/3) (Image is real and inverted)

  • m = h2/h1

-(2/3) = h2/5

h2 = -10/3 = -3.33 cm

Image is 3.33 cm in size and is real and inverted.
