For the second case.,

u(initial velocity) =4m/s(since the body is moving with constant speed for the first 5second)

s=ut +0.5at*2

20=4*t+0.5*0.5t*2

0.25t*2+4t-20=0

t*2+20t-4t-80=0

(t+20)(t-4)=0

t=4(since time cannot be negative)

Now, average velocity

=total distance covered /total time taken

=(20m+20m)/(5s+4s)

=40m/9s
