Your answer

The image will be formed in front of the mirror at a distance of 20 cm.

Explanation

Given ,

  • a concave mirror , in front of which an object is placed.

  • The radius of curvature of the given concave mirror is ( R ) = 40 cm

We , can easily calculate the distance of image from the mirror by using the formula ,

  • F = R / 2

( As the image will form at focii / focus )

So ,

  • F = 40 / 2

  • F = 20 cm

\rule{200}{4}

Key point

Also remember ,

Mirror formula ,

 \frac{1}{f}  =  \frac{1}{u}  +  \frac{1}{v}

  • This formula holds both tha concave and convex mirror formulae.

  • By using this formula we can calculate the length of the object from mirror , focus , and the length of the image from mirror.
