Answer:

Velocity has both magnitude and direction while speed only has magnitude.

Hence average velocity can be zero if a body travels to point 'A' and back to origin, displacement is 0 so average velocity is also 0.

However if body travels same distance to and fro the distance has some value "k". So no matter the time taken, average speed will have SOME value but will never be 0.

Answer:

an object can have zero average velocity but cannot have zero average speed.

for example a body moving in a circular path when returns to that point from where it started means that the displacement is zero so average velocity will also be zero because average velocity=displacement/total time taken

so average velocity will be zero.but the distance travelled is not zero so average speed is not zero.
