A stone can have zero avg. Velocity as the formula of velocity is = displacement /time, in which the displacement can be zero if a body moves from a point and finishes at the same point... Therefore avg. Velocity can be zero..... But avg. Speed cannot be zero as the formula of speed = distance /time in which if a body is in motion, distance can never be zero... Therefore, an object can have zero avg. Velocity but cannot have avg. Speed
