Answer: Ratio = 11 : 7

Explanation:

Given a semi-circular path

r=7 m

To calculate the distance we have to find the circumference of the semi-circle,

C(circumference of semi-circle)=\pir

                                                   =22/7 x 7

                                                   =22 m (as 7  got cancelled with the 7 in                   division)

Now the distance travelled  will be 22 m as the object covered the whole semi-circle.

Then we will calculate the displacement as we know that displacement is the shortest path covered to reach to any point.

So the path will always be the radius in a semi-circle or circle

So,

Displacement will be calculated by calculating the diameter of the semi-circle as it will be the shortest path form one point in a circle to another point.

Now,

Diameter=2r

              =2 x 7

              = 14 m

Now the displacement is 14 m as calculated above

Now moving to the 2nd part to calculate their ratio so,

Distance : Displacement

Put distance = 22 (as calculated above)

and displacement = 14 (as calculated above)

Now,

22:14

after simplifying we will get the ratio as follows

11:7

Hope,it helps.
