Hey There!!

A proton and an electron have the same amount of charge, however, the signs are different. Proton has a positive charge. Electron has a negative charge.

The magnitude of charge on both is :

e=1.602 \times 10^{-19} \, \, coulombs

A proton has a +e charge, while an electron has -e charge.

Now, we have n protons and m electrons:

So:

Total charge on n protons = +ne
Total charge on m electrons = -me

So,Net Charge = ne - me = (n-m)e

Thus, the Net Charge is (n-m)e where e is the magnitude if charge on a single proton or electron.

Hope it helps
