Given

distance covered by the object in time 't' 20 seconds = 50 m

and distance covered by the object in next 10 second = 40 m

Now we know

Average speed =  (Total distance covered/Total time taken) = (50+40)/(10+20)

Average speed = 90/30 = 3 m/s

Given :

Distance covered by by object in 20 seconds is 50 m .

Distance covered in next 10 seconds is 40 m .

To find :

The average velocity of object .

Solution :

We know , average velocity is given by  :

v_{avg}=\dfrac{d_1+d_2}{t_1+t_2}\\\\v_{avg}=\dfrac{50+40}{20+10}\\\\v_{avg}=\dfrac{90}{30}\\\\v_{avg}=3\ m/s

Therefore , the average velocity is 3 m/s .
