please chexk... you are countering your own statement. as you said that body can be in uniform motion when there is no external force, as we see that in the law u stated, there are two sentences

yes it is possible that when there is no net external force, and the body is moving in a straight line.
as we know that if there is a balanced force on any object, it's shape and configuration can change, but but but it will try to be in it's original position, may be at rest or if the body is in motion.
remember that balanced force means that net force acting on a body is zero
