Given : An object goes from point X to Y and then comes back from Y to X.

To Find :  the displacement and average velocity?

Solution:

Displacement =  Final position - Initial Position

An object goes from point X to Y and then comes back from Y to X.

Hence Initial position and final position both are X

As  Initial position and final position are same

=> Final position - Initial Position   = 0

Hence

Displacement =  0

average velocity = Displacement / Time taken

=> average velocity = 0 / Time taken

=> average velocity = 0

Hence Average velocity is also Zero

Displacement and average velocity , both are zeroes
