an object has moved through a distance.can it have zero displacement.support your answer with an example

Yes , when a body travel in a circular motion and it back to the same position from where it start then it have zero displacement or moving in stright line and back on the same postion have distance but not displacement .

Yes.

Even if the distance is zero the displacement need not be zero.

Consider an example.

An object is moving in a circular motion. Here the distance is equal to the circumference of the circle. But the displacement is zero!

Displacement is nothing but the shortest distance travelled!

In the circular motion the object returns to the same place where it started.Hence displacement is zero.
