An object is accelerating at a constant rate of 10m/s2 . If the object starts from rest, then how much distance will it cover in 2s?

Answer:

It will cover a distance of 20m.

Using Newton's third equation of motion (It can be applied because the acceleration is constant and the motion is supposed to be linear)

s = ut + ½ at² …….. (i)

s = ? ; u = 0 ; t = 2 s ; a = 10m/s²

Substituting these in (i)

s = 0 + ½ * 10 * 2²

Hence, s = 20m.
