S = Distance travelled by the object during free fall

= Height from which it falls

= 20 m

a = Acceleration of the object

= Accleration due to gravity

= g

= 10 m/s²

Initially, the body was at rest.

Therefore, initial velocity, u = 0 m/s

Therefore, using the third equation of motion,

v² - u² = 2aS, we get

v² - 0² = 2 × 10 × 20

=> v² = 400

=> v = √400

=> v = 20 m/s

Therefore, velocity of the object just before it hits the ground is 20 m/s.
