f= -60cm(focal length)

v=?(image distance)

Formula:

 \frac{1}{f} =  \frac{1}{v} -  \frac{1}{u} \\  -  \frac{1}{60}  =  \frac{1}{v}  - ( -  \frac{1}{40} ) \\  -  \frac{1}{60} =  \frac{1}{v}  +  \frac{1}{40} \\  \frac{1}{v} =  -  \frac{1}{60}  -  \frac{1}{40} \\  \\  \frac{1}{v} =  -  \frac{5}{60} \\  \frac{1}{v}  =  -  \frac{1}{24}  \\ v =  >  - 24cm.

Hence, the image distance is 24cm.
