an object is initially moving at constant speed after while it starts to accelerate the situation can be explained well by the Newton first law which states that an object remains in the state of rest or in uniform motion until and unless and external force is applied ,first the body remains in the state of rest because no force is acting on it , but suddenly a force is applied and body starts to accelerate.
