An object is initially to be at rest, A force of 10 N is applied on the object for 8 seconds. If the mass of the object is 4 Kg then what will be velocity acquired by the object when force is removed from the object

F = ma

∴ a = F/m

vf = vi + at

   = vi + F/m . t

   = 0 + 10/4 . 8

   = 20m/s

Given:-

  1. Initial velocity = 0
  2. Force applied = 10 N
  3. Time = 8 seconds
  4. Mass = 4 kg

To find:-

  • Velocity of the car when force is removed from the object

Formulae used:-

  1. Velocity = Displacement * Time
  2. s = ut + 1/2 at²

( where s = Displacement, u = initial velocity, t = time, a = acceleration )

3. Force = Mass * Acceleration

Solution:-

  • Force = Mass * Acceleration

10 = 4 * Acceleration

10÷4 = acceleration

Acceleration = 2.5 m/s²

  • s = ut + 1/2 at²

s = 0 * 8 + 1/2 * 2.5 * 8²

s = 0 + 1.25 * 64

Displacement = 80 m

  • Velocity = Displacement * Time

Velocity = 80 ÷ 8

Velocity = 10 m/s

If the force is removed from the object then the velocity acquired will be 10 m/s
