Given :-
- The distance of an object = 5m
- The distance of the image = 2m
To Find :-
- The magnification of image = ?
- The mirror is concave or convex = ?
Solution :-
- To calculate the magnification of image and the mirror is concave or convex , at first we have to represent the distance on an object be (u) = 5m. As given in the question that in front of a spherical mirror, which forms its erect image at a distance of 2m from the mirror So, the distance of the image be (v) = - 2m. Then simply by Applying formula to calculate the magnification or size or nature of image then we can easily get to know that the image is in concave or convex.
Calculation begins :-
⇢ Magnification (m) = -V/U
⇢ Magnification (m) = -(-2)/5
⇢ Magnification (m) = 2/5
⇢ Magnification (m) = 0.4m
Therefore, magnification is 0.4
- If the magnification is positive then the image form in the convex .
Hence,
- The required mirror is convex

Answer:
Given :-
- An object is kept at a distance of 5 m in front if a spherical mirror which forms its erect image at a distance of 2m from the mirror ..
To find :-
- What is the magnification?
- Is the mirror concave and convex.
Answer :-
- The answer for first question is
- The magnification is 0.4m.
- The mirror is convex.
Solution :-
1》
- First here lets verify your question,
- In the question given that ,
- An object is kept at a distance of u=5m in front of a spherical mirror which forms it an erect image at a given distance of 2m from the given mirror .
- Here we first we should know the one thing that,
- Here we should take the value of v=-2m.
Now,
- Lets enter to your given question,
- Here we should used to get the magnification is ,
- Lets apply the given values we get that,
- m=2/5=0.4m
Therefore ,
- The required magnification is 0.4m.
2》
- Here we should verify that the given spherical mirror is concave or convex.
- Hers we can easily come to know that,
- The required magnification is 0.4m which us positive that time the image form convex mirror.
Therefore,
- The required mirror =convex.
Extra information :-
- Here if we want to find the mirror is concave or convex we should come to know the given magnification value is positive or negative.
- If the answer of magnification is negative then the mirror said to be convex.
- If the answer of magnification is positive then the mirror is said to be concave
Hope it helps u mate.
Thank you .
