Given:-

  • Distance covered by object (d) =2km

  • Time taken (t) = 1 hour

  • Another Distance covered by object (d') = 3km .

  • Time taken (t') = 1.5 hour

  • Another Distance covered by object (d") = 1km

  • Time taken (t") = 0.5 hour

To Find:-

  • Average speed of the object

Solution:-

As we know that ,

Average Speed = Total Distance/Total Time taken

Put the value which is given above

⟹ Av.Speed = d+d'+d"/t+t'+t"

⟹ Av. Speed = 2+3+1/1+1.5+0.5

⟹Av. Speed = 6/1+2

⟹ Av.Speed = 6/3

⟹ Av.Speed = 2m/s

The Av.Speed of the object is 2m/s.

Additional Information !!

Average Speed : It defined as the sum of Total distance covered by object divided by total time taken.

Speed : The speed of an object is equal to the distance transversed by it in a short time interval divided by time interval.

Uniform Speed : If an object covers equal distance in equal time interval it is said to be in uniform speed.

Non-Uniform Speed: If an object does not cover equal distance in equal interval of time, then its speed is said to be in non uniform speed.

✧ SI unit of speed is m/s.
